The first IIFF was held last April and broke attendance-record. IIFF is owned by the Icelandic cinemas and the main film distributors in Iceland. The founders and owners are: Samfilm, Sena, Myndform and Green Light Films. IIFF will also host a few smaller festivals every year, in-between the main festival. The Reykjavik International Short Film Festival started in 1992. During this time, professionals, beginners and amateurs have found there a forum to exhibit their work in this field, along with inspiration and encouragement from the juries and the audience.

BOSTON UNDERGROUND FILM FESTIVAL - SUBMISSION AND DATES
Held in late March, located in Harvard Square, Cambridge, Ma, a celebration of the bizarre and insane. The Boston Underground Film Festival was birthed from the filthy brain of founder David Kleiler way back in 1998. All wet and slippery straight from the mind-womb, the festival began life as an all-night film marathon run by Kleiler and longtime festival pal Dima Ballin. This informal event quickly grew into the first annual Boston Underground Film Festival held at the Revolving Museum in South Boston. Programmer Bernard Broginart described this first annual gathering as "a wonderful hoax of a film festival." We'd like to think that things have come a long way since then.

History - In 2002, two guys sat around their office saying, "We should start a film festival." The idea was to create a festival that would showcase the best independent films from around the world—a festival that would bring directors, actors, producers, sponsors, and attendees together in an interactive environment. There were other film festivals in Boston, but there wasn't a mainstream independent film festival inclusive of everything that made up the film-festival experience.
